Sales Associate

Waikiki — Royal Hawaiian Center

We’re looking for a friendly, energetic Sales Associate to join our Waikiki team. You’ll be the face of Island Slipper at the Royal Hawaiian Center — greeting customers, sharing the story behind our handcrafted footwear, and helping them find the perfect pair. Full-time and part-time positions available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products that meet their needs and preferences. Provide knowledgeable advice on fashion trends, styling tips, and product features.
  • Sales Generation: Actively engage with customers to promote products, answer questions, and offer assistance throughout the shopping process. Utilize upselling and cross-selling techniques to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about current fashion trends, new arrivals, and promotions. Maintain a thorough understanding of our product offerings, including materials, sizes, and pricing.
  • Visual Merchandising: Assist with maintaining visual standards and presentation of merchandise on the sales floor, including organizing displays, replenishing stock, and ensuring cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, assist with receiving shipments, and perform stock replenishment as needed. Notify management of any discrepancies or low stock levels.
  • Cash Handling: Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing personalized service, addressing inquiries and concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to achieve sales targets, maintain store operations, and uphold brand standards. Support colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Store Maintenance: Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up displays, restocking merchandise, and ensuring security measures are followed.
  • Adherence to Policies: Follow company policies and procedures regarding dress code, attendance, punctuality, and conduct. Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Optional: Styling footwear and accessories to create content for social media posts. If interested, please provide examples of what you can offer.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 6 months of retail sales experience
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays (store open daily from 10a-9p)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong orientation towards providing excellent customer service
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated selling skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and bend or reach to restock products
Desired Qualifications
  • 1 year of sales experience or customer service experience
  • Ability to speak Japanese, Chinese, or Korean
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds

We’re looking for an experienced Sales Supervisor to lead our Waikiki team at the Royal Hawaiian Center. You’ll coach and develop staff, drive sales performance, and ensure every customer experiences the aloha that’s been at the heart of Island Slipper since 1946. This is a full-time leadership role.
